In private practice I provide counseling to families, premarital counseling, married couples, and parent/child relationships. I meet with families who are looking to grow their family through adoption and I do both post and pre adoption homestudies for families. I have done adoption homestudies for stranger adopt families, step-parent adoption and for families who are adopting from other states and other countries.

This position requires extensive knowledge of Federal and State Child Welfare laws and regulations, department and state fiscal policy and procedures, agency values and missions, children’s administration reform plan mandates, statewide policies and procedures to maintain program consistency, best practice initiatives and strength-based family practices in addition to cooperatively developed protocols. As Family Team Decision Making Facilitator, I conduct strength based meetings with families involved with the child welfare system in concert with available family members and individuals identified through their social construct, including schools, child care settings, etc. This position also requires knowledge of the Indian Child Welfare policy and implementation. I train and advise social work staff on this policy in written and oral presentations. I am certified as a subject expert in child welfare in Tribal and State courts.The goal of this position is to establish a plan that will ensure the safety and well-being of the children while addressing the cultural needs and socio-emotional issues identified. I also represent my agency as a community Liaison providing training and education on child welfare policy and mandated reporting requirements.

• As a Continuing Education Specialist: This position is an integral part of the professional development and education and training system for public child welfare. Duties and responsibilities include the following. Work within a competency-based education and training system. Provide individual and group instruction or coaching to new and current supervisors and social workers or basic and advanced techniques in provision of solution based case work to Children’s Administration client children and families. I identify, individually and as a team member, problems/issues that impact child welfare, adoption, child protective functioning. Plan develops, implement and coordinate in regional and statewide educational and training teams. Train and develop curriculum to address culture competencies for child welfare supervisors and social workers. Plan develops and implements regional and statewide trainings to address racial disparity in child welfare systems.Participate and collect evaluation and outcome data
