June is a principal planner for HDR specializing in academic, laboratory and master planning. Coming to the planning field with an academic background, she is known for innovative techniques in engaging users, facilities and administrators to come to a common vision about their project. Her strength lies in the ability to move between the macro- and micro-levels of planning, including multi-campus, multi-building facility evaluation and highest and best use, scenario planning, phasing and feasibility studies and detailed programming and planning for research and academic science facilities. With special emphasis on creativity, innovative thinking skills and problem-solving in her background, June works with groups of often different and competing priorities to "Jumpstart" new ways of thinking, helping individuals of all ranks to recognize new cognitive tools. Leading visioning exercises, facilitating formation of new creative teams and helping teams to break logjams are part of her stock-in-trade.Her planning skills are enriched by a background that includes eight years of teaching experience as well as two years as facility planning manager for a 125-acre, 70-building pharmaceutical campus. She has a high degree of commitment to her clients, and absolute commitment to good design, flexibility for the future and functionality. Her skills include laboratory planning, academic and classroom planning, feasibility studies, team facilitation and visioning, and strategic planning for science facilities.June serves on the Planning Academy of the Society for College and University Planners, having spoken at SCUP NorthAtlantic, MidAtlantic and Southern Regional Conferences. She has presented at the SCUP National Conference every year since 2014. She is also an active presenter at Tradeline and the Healthcare Design Expo.When not planning, June plays bagpipes with the Ulster Scottish Pipe Band, is a professional piping and ensemble judge and has served as President and Music Board Chair for the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association.
