Thought I'd tip toe towards retirement - but it was way too sooooon!

Responsible for compliance, health and safety, general policies and procedures. Researching, recruiting and referencing new candidates. Matching candidates for local government placements. Website management and maintenance. General office duties - stationery ordering, maintaining files and archive, liaising with suppliers and book keeping.

As the Manager of a small grant making trust each day brings a new challenge.As well as the general management functions; staffing, budgeting, accounts, planning and marketing. The role involves building relationships across both the business and voluntary sector.

Started as a regional fundraising coordinator working alongside the area staff to add a fundraising element to their events, as well as organising stand alone events and fundraising initiatives. Promoted to area manager responsible for 7 other area staff. Worked on organisation's presence at Greenbelt, 300th anniversary events including a pilgrimage and travelling exhibition, arranged a tour of South African singers to raise awareness of the increase pandemic of AIDS in Africa. Took over the new Mission Companions programme - helping people going overseas to raise their own salary by producing newsletters, mailings and speaking events.

Tea and Toilets - in a large unit of 75 staff it's important that the kettle works and the WC has paper. Ran a small call centre team taking calls for the various branches in North London, supervised recruitment, HR and training for staff. Monitored and collated budget information for the whole unit. Ensured the premises running effectively including post, buildings, furniture and equipment.
