SAP utilizes the strengths from all the child's resources by creating a team effort among parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, and other mental health professionals. Staff assess the student's resources and link the students to professional services, if needed. The SAP program takes a proactive approach by providing student intervention programs, classroom presentations, anger management groups, and school staff training.Individual, group, and family counseling.Assist students dealing with difficulties related to adjusting to school, making friends, divorced or divorcing parents, sibling rivalry, and grief.Provide education and intervention for students with drug and alcohol issues.Provide resources to help deal with family conflicts.Help identify potential problem areas of student behavior.Provide training to assist with anger management.Mediate conflicts between students, mediate conflicts between students and teachers.Provide information and resources for suicide prevention.Advocate for students regarding academic difficulties.Sponsor of Natural Helpers, and multiple school sponsored support and process groups.[Case Manager at Watauga Behavioral Health Services, Johnson City: May-June 2018]
