As a Residential Advisor, I am a part of an interdisciplinary team on campus that provides an inclusive and engaging environment for residents who live on campus. I am directly responsible for 44 residents and work with 11 other residential advisors in a village comprising 636 residents. We host bi-monthly check-ins with residents and ensure their educational and social experiences on campus are safe, inclusive, and supportive. To develop targeted programs that cover applicable topics for our student body, I work with different groups on campus such as "Associated Students," "The HUB Cultural Center," the "Office of Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination," and the "Sonoma State Police Department." Apart from planning programs and coordinating with other staff and offices on campus, I also serve in an "On-call" capacity. During this time I respond to resident concerns and emergencies alongside campus police, co-residential advisors, and area coordinators.

As a participant in Chico State's Rural California Nursing Preceptorship program, I had the opportunity to directly work with nurses for a total of 150 clinical hours at Mercy San Juan's emergency department, a level two trauma center. While there, I assisted in triage assessments and intakes, performed life-saving measures on coding patients, administered medications and interventions to critically ill patients, monitored emergently stabilized patients for admission, and kept a calm and collected demeanor while in high-stress situations. Participating in this program showed me my love for critical care and taught me the importance of prioritization and assessment.

As a human physiology teaching assistant, I assisted the professor in developing, preparing, and implementing lab experiments, interpreted lab data and lecture material, and addressed students’ questions and concerns about course material. I frequently would review old notes, read related materials, and complete supplemental research on lab topics to be better prepared for answering the "why?" behind things. By doing this, I was able to not only gain a better understanding of physiology but also how to teach different types of learners, taking upper-level concepts and simplifying them for beginning physiology students.
