My research group has been at the forefront of the development of ultralow-noise optical frequency comb sources and their innovative timing applications, spanning from synchronizing ultrafast science and radio astronomy facilities through ultrafast 3D dynamics imaging to chip-scale microwave and mm-wave photonic systems. Current on-going research projects include- Micro-comb-based ultralow-noise mm-wave generators (supported by NRF)- Atomic-clock-referenced photonic LO and PCAL signals generation for VLBI radio telescopes (collaboration with KASI, KRISS, KISTI; supported by NST-CAP)- Integrated optical frequency synthesizers for quantum time sensors (collaboration with KRISS; supported by IITP)- Rapid, precise and multifunctional comb-based LiDARs (supported by NRF-ERC)- Photonics-based signal generators and receivers for high-performance radars (supported by Hanwha Systems Co)- Rapid and precise surface profilometry of 3D semiconductor devices (supported by Samsung Electronics)- High-speed temperature sensors for semiconductor manufacturing process (supported by SEMES)
