In 1998, former diplomat Junie del Mundo organized EON’s first project out of his fledgling company’s studio-type office with just 3 people to help him. Seventeen years later, He still presides over the same company, now staffed with over 70 experts, as its chairman and chief executive officer. EON is now among the biggest public relations and communication consultancy firms globally and is considered the 7th fastest growing in the Asia Pacific according to the 2013 World PR Report by The Holmes Report. It is the only stakeholder relations firm in the Philippines and is the affiliate of global PR firm Edelman. What differentiates Junie from other PR professionals is how he injects a sense of country and community into his work. “You cannot take the Philippines out of our work,” he tells colleagues; reminding them that EON’s most valuable works are those that will benefit the country. He spearheaded an advocacy campaign that led to the PR industry’s support for the Integrity Initiative, a unified code of conduct for businesses to promote common ethical standards among the various segments of the society. He is also a staunch advocate of the creation of a Philippine Country Brand especially in the light of the coming ASEAN regional economic integration in 2015. Leveraging on his skills as a former diplomat, he helped the public sector hold important events, including pushing the government’s agenda in the Manila 2012: The Philippine Hosting of the 45th Board of Governors Annual Meeting together with the Asian Development Bank, Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas and Department of Finance.
