A veteran corporate banker, Junie broke the glass ceiling when she became the first non-Japanese and the first female in the management of the Corporate Banking Division, Asia Oceania in a Japanese financial institution. Her international stint working in Japan and abroad, covering Asia Oceania has given her a global perspective and an agile mindset. To fulfill her desire to be more socially impactful, she took a leap of faith and successfully pivoted to the social service sector. She spent 5 years as CEO of a large charitable organization in Singapore, serving close to 10,000 beneficiaries through its 22 centres ranging from nursing homes, to a training academy, spanning across the social and health sectors.In the last 25 years, she has devoted her time to the causes for women from all walks of life. She is serving as Singapore Government’s Representative for Women’s Rights on the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC).  Beyond that she continues to give time to her mentees and gives voice to the disadvantaged through her volunteer work in the community. Effectively trilingual in English, Mandarin Chinese and Japanese, she is passionate about facilitating opportunities for women to advance into senior leadership roles, and views a focus on diversity within organizations to be both a recipe for business success, as well as a socially responsible measure. She is the Founding Co-Chair of BoardAgender, an initiative to create awareness on the economic benefits of having more women on boards and the necessity of harnessing human capital through building a solid pipeline of senior women in leadership positions.She is the Immediate Past President of SCWO ( Singapore Council of Women's organizations) and a member of the Council of Board Diversity. Most recently, she became the first female chairperson on the Singapore Kindness Movement.A Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID), she is the former chairperson of the Board Services and Mentorship Committee on the SID council and helped to launch the inaugural SID mentorship programme in 2022. As a director on the board of the Agency for Integrated care, she hopes to be a catalyst to integrate the social and health needs in the community. She is sought after for her experience in Audit and Risk, HR and Remuneration committees on boards. Junie received the Distinguished Arts and Social Sciences Alumni Award 2023 from the National University of Singapore. She is a Justice of Peace and a recipient of the Public Service Medal.
