I am an experienced metallurgist - pyrometallurgist with an extensive experience encompassing extractive metallurgy, pyrometallurgy and project metallurgy. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD project for the Steel Research Hub in collaboration with Liberty Primary Steel in Whyalla, focusing on enhancing steel cleanliness. With a solid background in extractive metallurgy, I have held key roles such as metallurgy supervisor, metallurgical plant trainer, assistant manager, Safe Operation Procedure writer for metallurgical plants, tutor, and lecturer. These positions reflect my comprehensive experience and leadership in the field. My master's research focused on recovering Germanium, similar to silicon, from amorphous slag structures to matte during copper-cobalt smelting. I also demonstrated my technical expertise through a techno-economic feasibility study on slate treatment under microwave and other industrial processes, highlighting my project management skills. Currently, my research centers on inclusion engineering in Si-killed steel for rail-grade applications, showcasing my commitment to advancing metallurgy by integrating practical experience with cutting-edge research to improve the efficiency and sustainability of steel production.
