Junior Azur Sanchez is a Chicano First-Generation College graduate and emerging bilingual educator. He attended Illinois State University, where he earned a degree in English Education. Junior is currently undergoing his second year teaching at his Alma Mater, Rolling Meadows High School - a school in the widely recognized District D214. At Rolling Meadows High School, Junior is an English, Physics, and AVID teacher that focuses on Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors; he is also part of the Soccer team coaching staff. Mr. Sanchez is an educator that focuses on diversity, equity, and representation for marginalized students. As a minority that overcame numerous setbacks and tribulations, he strives to be able to create a classroom community that serves as a mirror and window for each individual that walks into his class. He is a firm believer that empathy and understanding are at the forefront of education. Junior Azur Sanchez and his work in the educational field have been featured in the Chicago Tribune and in Newsela. Not only that, he has appeared as a guest speaker for High Schools in the area that have a significant Hispanic/Latinx population. He plans on publishing a novel and poetry book that reflect the lives of those he loves and adores - Chicanos and First-Generation individuals. Mr. Sanchez’s life experiences and background have given him the opportunity to serve as a tool to propel the younger generation towards a more brilliant future.
