Jun is currently the company's key subject matter expert on protection, control and automation including the new and emerging technologies. He continues to be involved in various industry technical organizations including IEEE-PES Power System Relaying Committee and Power System Communications and Cybersecurity Committee, Cigre B5(protection automation and control) working groups, IEC-TC57 working group 10 on IEC 61850, and other industry groups. He represents and leads Doble Engineering in the UCAIug IEC 61850 multi-vendor Interoperability testing biennial event where and is heavily involved in the planning and development of applications, test cases and procedures.

Jun has had various specialized jobs including the development of fully automated protection testing software, including advanced modules for testing complex distance, transformer differential, directional, power swing, and other protection-related functions. He conducted protection testing training sessions for customers and industry seminars, and presented technical papers at major protection conferences in the United States and worldwide. After a few years at Doble Engineering, he additionally managed and supervised a fleet of several protections engineers supporting customers in the United States and worldwide who were involved in sales, marketing, presentations, training and application for testing protection and control systems.

Starting as a senior protection engineer involved in the marketing, application, and testing of protection systems, Jun later took on the role of managing the design and execution of protection system projects for for power utility customers in the United States and overseas.

Directed and supervised the protection, control, automation and communications part of all NPC's expansion projects, including transmission, distribution, and generation.

In addition to his role as Manager of the System Protection and Analysis Department, Jun initiated, managed and directly supervised the modernization and refurbishing of the protection & control and disturbance monitoring systems of NPC's 230-kV and 115-kV Luzon Grid. This later included the refurbishment of the protection and control systems for the Visayas and Mindanao 138-kV grids.Protection systems included advanced distance relays, phase comparison systems, line current differential systems, transformer and bus protection, directional relays, etc. Introduced new features including single-phase, three-phase tripping and autoreclosing, synch-check, breaker fail protection. Disturbance recording systems included DFRs and SERs with an centralized analysis system.

Jun directed and supervised power system studies (load flow, short circuit, stability) and analysis related to the operation of the NPC power system, as well as coordination and setting of the transmission protection systems.He developed and revised the company philosophy and practices on protection (including associated telecommunication requirements) for the NPC Luzon HV power transmission system, aimed to meet the protection performance requirements of the expanding power system. He developed and supervised the implementation of system-wide underfrequency load shedding schemes and special automatic switching schemes (now know as remedial action schemes (RAS)) that have detected system events and undesired operating conditions prevented them from cascading into widespread disturbances and blackouts.

Testing, commissioning, maintenance of protection, control, and metering in power substations and plants, including troubleshooting, calibration, repairs. He also did relay setting and coordination.
