About Juny Crespo

Passionate about challenges, agile complex developments at scale, teamwork, and continuous learning. Program manager, industrial engineer, father (x3). I started my career in the civil engineering sector, performing calculations for prefabricated concrete structures for cooling towers, malls, and the framework for Valencia CF’s new stadium. However, being at the beginning of my career, I felt the need to explore other fields and I signed up for the iGEM synthetic biology competition (a yearly event organised at MIT), enrolled in a Project Management MSc, and (along with a group of fellow students) created and launched the entrepreneurial contest 49k.It was high time I went abroad. The best imaginable opportunity presented itself with CERN. An organization devoted to Science, working together with colleagues from all over the world. Moreover, I had the chance to learn French while also improving my English. I spent three years in the project management branch of the civil engineering department where I was responsible for the LHC structural improvements during the so-called Long Shutdown 1. After this incredible experience, my wife and I decided to spend a sabbatical year travelling around the world, discovering other places, languages, cultures, traditions, ways of living… They were fourteen months of maximum intensity, reflections, readings, conversations, and discoveries. A truly unforgettable experience (losjunys.com).Once back in 2015, I jumped into the Space sector, joining the awesome and unique PLD Space team. During the following 5 years, we worked as hard as possible to make the company grow (from 5 to 50+ employees), build credibility (by delivering on time, on cost and on quality results on internal projects and grants), and develop Miura 1 suborbital launcher.Following, I have had the extraordinary opportunity to work as Project Manager at the European Satellite Center within the Space Situational Awareness (SSA) Unit, as well as Program Manager at Space Villages, and Head of Program at Zeleros hyperloop.Now, starting in March 2024, I'm embarking on a new adventure as the Country Operations Manager at Iceye Spain, where I look forward to leveraging my expertise in program/project management and to contributing to the company's growth and success in pursuing its mission: improving life on Earth by providing un precedented access to near real-time Earth Observation insights.
