Dr. Chen is a senior scientist in the GST Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) Cal/Val group at STAR/NOAA. Dr. Chen has end-to-end experience in satellite meteorology, including but not limited to, calibration and validation of spaceborne ultraviolet spectrometers (OMPS) and microwave instruments (AMSUA), atmospheric remote sensing based on satellite data (MIRS), radiative transfer model (CRTM), data assimilation and data fusion, the impact of global observing system change in weather forecast and climate dataset (OSSE), global reanalysis production and improvement, global climate variation analysis based on satellite datasets. The research work done by Chen has been published in Science. He has received one GISS Best Publication Award, one NASA Group Achievement Award, and two NOAA STAR JPSS Awards. He has been PI and Co-I of projects granted by NASA or NOAA.
