I started my career at Pixar in 2004. I felt so blessed to have Pixar as my first real job out of grad school and it's been an amazing place to work ever since.I am currently a Supervising Department Technical Director in the characters department - making animated characters. My technical specialty is in appearance modeling, shading and geometric processing. I am very excited that recently our animated character's material modeling have branched beyond traditional surface material and texturing, to extend into procedural geometry, simulation and volumetrics. Beyond that, technically, I am also interested in computational geometry, light transport and rendering in general.As a supervisor, I enjoy project planning and management as well as the people-aspects of any production. The creative process, working with talented artists and technologist is the favorite part of my job.As a technical director, my job also entails the usage of many 3D software programs, which includes Maya, Houdini, Katana, Mari, Photoshop and many other studio tools. My job also requires me to program in a number to languages, which includes, C, C++, Python, Mel, Vex, OSL, etc. to achieve production goals and looks. I enjoy learning new things as animation technology is fast moving and require new technologies to achieve fresh new looks.
