Overall: Featured historically suppressed philosophers with integrated methods of close and distant reading; established a sustainable workflow for future researchers.• Distant reading: Discovered that underrepresented philosophers are isolatedand given less credit on Wikipedia through network analysis; recovered 1,444(9.3%) missing links and demonstrated them with network visualizations.• Close reading: Extracted key concepts and connections from unstructured philosophy corpora; designed the ontology and multiple data input templates.• Sustainable integration: Built an agile graph database and reusable codingpipeline for researcher to easily analyze and visualize philosophers’ connections.

Wrote and published 51 articles and gained 300,000+ clicks, 3,000+ likes, and 3,000+ followers in Wechat and Zhihu (a platform like Quora); run a blog on my website to share technical knowledge and personal reflections.

This lab is a Digital Humanities initiative.I started and co-directed the lab with Dr. Zhaojin Zeng, to incubate interdisciplinary research and foster a digital humanities community at Duke Kunshan University.• Work with Dr. Zeng on the organization of the lab and academic events including research seminars and reading groups.• Contribute to the syllabus and overall design of a graduate-level course: Intro-ductory Digital Humanities.

Project: An Alternative Landscape of Classical Chinese PhilosophyProposed and lead this project with the co-PIs; co-wrote the grant proposal and got the DATA+ Grant from Data Science Research Center, Duke Kunshan University.• Hold information session, recruited four research assistants, and built two teams(close and distant reading); organize meetings and assign tasks every week.• Investigate how key concepts in Chinese philosophy, such as ziran (“nature”) anddao (“the Way”), are interpreted differently across contexts and authors.• Employed natural language processing techniques (topic modeling and word em-bedding) on pre-Qin philosophical texts, written in classical Chinese, obtainedfrom the Chinese Text Project (ctext.org).

- Met weekly to review literature and research into the architecture, philosophy, semantic analysis, and visualization of knowledge with 13 faculty and students in Social Sciences, Humanities, and Natural Sciences.- Proposed a student-directed project with Yetta He to model and analyze knowledge production at universities.- Co-led a five-people team to conduct review on knowledge graph and develop relevant software toolkit.

To reveal perspectives encoded in the scholarly discourse of philosophy; examinethe comprehensive and widely influential source in philosophy, Stanford Encyclo-pedia of Philosophy (SEP).• Extracted over 70,000 authors and 200,000 sources from the SEP entries and theirbibliographies, spanning from the 7th century BC to the present.• Created a graph database of philosophers and works referenced across entries.• Discovered both an “over-representation” and a “under-representation”: despiteover 60 entries on women philosophers and feminist philosophy, these philoso-phers are only rarely referenced in discussions on the philosophical topics towhich they contributed.

Average rating 4.9/5.• Delivered recitation classes on STATA coding and key concepts including probability distribution, hypothesis testing, multivariable regression, prediction, and model diagnosis. • Trained monthly by Academic Resource Center (ARC) team on tutoring strategies such as structured tutoring and handling difficult situations.

Project: Interactive Novel | A Journey of Self-Reflection with Sherlock HolmesOverview: Collaborated with co-founders and software engineers to design an app where characters can “chat with” users and guide them to reflect on life purposes; this project was built upon a previous product Uni 2 (4.6/5, 4.7k ratings on App Store).• Technical: Assisted in bringing virtual characters “to life” by matching pre-written sentences and the user’s input with Natural Language Processing.• Narrative: Developed the collection of lines and structured it in a way that in-spires the user to reflect on their own experiences in the dialogue.

Kunshan Student Ambassador Council (KSAC)• Collaboratively developed the theme of Duke China-US Summit 2021 conference, which attracted 500+ audience and 800+ followers, with 4000+ new exposures.• Designed a logo and managed the KSAC Blog channel to increase impressions.

- Utilized Python to crawl and reorganize 580 configuration items of Kafca, Yarn, Zookeeper.- Collaborated with colleagues to translate information of configuration item between Chinese and English.- Extracted 4 types of monitoring indicators from Promethues time series database and organized them into excel tables using panda package.- Organized the interface documents for HBase, Zookeeper, HDFS, and host monitoring indicators.

- Operated an online shop selling Chinese classic jewelry in Taobao, for which I designed, hand-made, and marketed Chinese classic jewelry.- The sales reached 20,000 RMB and received more than 100 five-star ratings.
