I am a Research Fellow specializing in Computational Oncology at the Laboratory of Translational Genomics within the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, US. My primary research areas include bioinformatics and tumor genetics/genomics, focusing on (1) developing pancreatic cancer risk prediction models (using polygenic risk scores (PRS) and non-genetic factors), (2) genetic susceptibilities through extensive multi-omics approaches (e.g., genome and transcriptome-wide association studies (GWAS/TWAS)), (3) exploring tumorigenesis drivers in accessible chromatin regions and cis-regulatory elements, and (4) chemotherapy sensitivity prediction. More details in https://www.junzhong.cc/My academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics and a Research Fellow experience from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and postdoctoral training at the National Cancer Institute. I has contributed to many high-quality publications, with 8 as the first/co-first or co-corresponding author in prestigious journals such as JNCI, Nucleic Acid Research, American Journal of Human Genetics, The Innovation, and Trends in Genetics. Notably, I spearheaded a significant collaborative TWAS, identifying 14 novel genes linked to an increased risk of pancreatic cancer. This work received considerable recognition, including an editorial highlight in the JNCI.My accolades include the NIH DCEG Intramural Research Award (IRA), two NIH Fellows Awards for Research Excellence, and a Summer Research Mentor Award. I also serve as an Editorial Board Member in BMC Medicine and a Youth Editor in The Innovation.
