About Jurema Gorham, M.Ed.
I did it! In the summer of 2021 I made the bet of a lifetime - on myself! I quit my 15+ year career as a transformative educational leader in Pre-K to 12th grade settings. And I went all-in on my passion, my second baby, the non-profit I founded in 2018 - Burst Into Books. I know youth literacy is a family business. I'm fiercely committed to creating brave spaces so that families have access to opportunities that will enhance their futures. Part of how we do this is coming together in community - and having fun! I'm proud that Burst Into Books has positively impacted over 3,000 children on the S. Side of Chicago. Myself and my village underwrote the majority of this important work on our own times & dimes. I can't afford to do this work for free and support myself and my son, Trey, anymore. I want to connect with folks from all walks of life who care about reading and care about kids. I'm grateful to you for any contacts and resources you can share that will help me ensure Burst Into Books has the appropriate infrastructure and is financially sustainable long into the future.
