In 2019, we started an English master Behavioral Change at the Radboud University. I managed the transition from the current course (in Dutch) to a newly structured course which is presented in English. I also supervised internships and theses of several Ms students.

Hoe leren ze van hun medeleerlingen en hoe van de docent? Facilitate, support, reorganize and manage of the DCC labs

In my current position I am working on the brain mechanism that support learning by imitation. Which brain mechanisms during observation of others are predictive for the ability to imitate the observed behavior? Our results could result in valuable insights to imitation learning in motor skills (that may apply to sports, revalidation therapy etc), but also to normative behaviour, tool use, culture, and many other fields. We are currently applying for a grant to get our research funded.

The last 4 years I’ve studied the neuropsychological mechanisms of sequence learning as a postdoc researcher. In daily activities like piano or tennis playing, sequence learning is of fundamental importance to acquire new skills, but it is also a fundamental feature of language. My personal interest is focussed on the role of such learning mechanisms in psychosocial phenomena. How can people become cooperative or competitive? Can two people acquire an interactive skill even without awareness? What are the brain mechanisms that support imitation? Knowledge of such mechanisms is of crucial importance to understand learning in classes, team sports, team management etc etc. Also, with Maarten Boksem I’ve shown the brain response to feedback (Feedback Related Negativity) is predictive for future learning. In my research I’ve collaborated with leading scientists in the field (Harold Bekkering, Natalie Sebanz, Hein van Schie). I’m impassioned for social neuroscience for which I’m highly skilled and I’d be delighted to work in its field. Please notify me if you are interested or have information for me!

My Phd project focussed on the fundamental mechanisms of the influence of illusory object on visual attention and the reflections of those mechanisms in the Electroencephalogram (EEG).
