Currently focusing on deep-learning based audio signal processing solutions, especially for miniaturised loudspeakers (MEMS). Utilizing both DSP and machine learning techniques.- Developed and evaluated a signal processing and audio tuning solution for a multiway next-generation audio glasses prototype.- From an idea to proof-of-concept: DNN based algorithm framework for next-generation speaker component optimization. Own research focused on audio signal processing, with applications in music playback systems and equalizers, including neural-network based filter-gain optimization for graphic equalizers, and group delay equalization.Two industrial projects with Nokia Technologies resulting in: - Novel equalization techniques for small mobile speakers. - An adaptive headset signal processing algorithm, where music and noise signals were extracted and separated from a single in-ear microphone signal.

Industrial partner: Bang & OlufsenReceived a competitive Industrial PostDoc research grant from Innovation Fund Denmark, covering half of the 3-year project (total budget ∼$500,000), the other half co-financed by Bang & Olufsen and Aalborg University.- Worked on mutually exclusive sound reproduction systems (sound zones) in domestic environments.- Validated mathematical models, motivated by human perception, that aim to predict the perceived quality of an audio-on-audio interference situation based on physical measurements of the sound field.- Developed real-time perceptual models for distraction in audio-on-audio interference situations (Patent application filed).- Builded demonstrators to investigate sound-zone interaction and control (using Max/MSP and Matlab/Playrec).

Audio signal processing research, mainly focused on headphone audio signal processing and equalizer design. Several industrial collaboration projects with Nokia.- Developed novel high-precision equalization techniques, resulting in high quality journal publications.- Built unprecedented digital hear-through headset for mobile AR applications, resulting in a journal publication.Main results from industrial collaboration projects include:- A patent application describing a method allowing the replication of different measured target responses to be reproduced with any headphones.- Perceptually-motivated adaptive equalizer for headphones.- Augmented reality application for live concerts allowing users to modify the sound spectrum of livemusic in a desirable way in real time.- A tool simulating the masked music when the hearing threshold is increased in noisy environments, when using different types of headphones.- In-ear headset technology with a novel signal processing concept utilizing multiple built-in microphones.

Evaluated a mobile augmented reality audio system through measurements and listening tests, resulting in a Master’s thesis. In collaboration with Nokia Research Center (NRC).
