I am an enthusiastic, fully qualified, versatile and experienced trainer with excellent communication skills. I have over fifteen years experience of designing courses and delivering training in a range of environments.

• Teaching IT skills to groups of adult learners – delivering formal, informal and online sessions.• Providing appropriate support to all students throughout the courses.• Designing appropriate course materials including paper-based materials and e-learning video tutorials.• Assessing and evaluating progress of individuals.• Preparing course outlines and individual session plans.• Ensuring that the necessary educational, organisational, administrative and assessment activities were completed.• Contributing to accreditation and moderation activities.• Extensive experience of teaching older learners, experience of teaching people with learning difficulties and students whose first language is not English.• Designing courses (and course materials) to meet the needs of specific learners, accredited by the Open College Network.• Advising Newcastle Libraries on purchasing learning materials for IT courses.

Organising a comprehensive IT access and development programme for older people from Age Concern Newcastle’s Healthy Living Centre. Identifying staff training needs and developing suitable staff training programmes. Providing support and evaluating the performance of tutors, including performing teaching observations, to ensure high quality service. PGCE mentor for IT tutors at Age Concern. Ensuring that the IT project worked within relevant security, safety and practice requirements (e.g. Age Concern’s Health and Safety Policy, Equal Opportunity Policy, IT User guidelines). Responsible for all marketing, monitoring and evaluation of the IT project, and reporting back to funding providers within deadlines. Liaising with outside agencies (e.g. Newcastle College, Newcastle Central Library, BBC, BT) to promote partnership approaches to the programme. Liaising with technical support providers to ensure the smooth running of the organisation. Working within the budget and service targets set by funding conditions. Working with the Volunteer Coordinator to identify, recruit and train volunteers as facilitators in the IT suite and cyber café. Developing and sourcing funding for a community outreach IT project in a sheltered housing centre. Oversee organisational IT needs in conjunction with Deputy Chief Executive and Head of Finance and Administration, including contributing towards the development of an IT strategy. Identifying and applying for funding from a wide variety of sources. Responsibility for the safety and security of equipment and data used in the IT suite, cyber café and throughout the organisation. Working as an active part of the Leisure and Learning team at Age Concern Newcastle, forming part of the Duty Manager rota, identifying opportunities for expansion, identifying funding opportunities and contributing to the overall direction of the service.
