It was asked to use that information to educate the public and to identify and implement a process for reconciliation as a result of the damage caused during that historical period.The Commission held Community, Regional and National Events over six years with Survivors of the schools including former staff. It visited over 300 communities during its term and recorded almost 7,000 statements. It's Final Report was delivered to the Parties and to the public at a National Ceremony on December 15, 2015 held in Ottawa Ontario Canada.As Chair of the Commission Justice Sinclair was responsible for the overall management of its operations, and to provide the leadership necessary for the Commission to do its work.
