Justin Abney Email and Phone Number
Hello! I am an incoming junior at Purdue University in Indianapolis, where I am pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering. My engineering journey took off during the summer before my freshman year when I secured a highly competitive position in the Engineering Development Program at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana (TMMI). Being part of this renowned automotive company, known for their Gold Standard Toyota Production System, was a fantastic way to kick-start my engineering career. Interacting with seasoned engineers, I absorbed invaluable knowledge and acquired best practices for efficient problem-solving in a real-world setting. During that transformative summer, I also gained practical experience in Lean Six Sigma, which I successfully applied to a project (please refer to my resume for further details).Currently, I am participating in a university program in collaboration with the United States Navy, aimed at engaging students in research and problem-solving for national security concerns. Through this initiative, I had the privilege of joining the National Security Innovation Network's (NSIN) X-Force Fellowship between my freshman and sophomore years. During this fellowship, I worked at NSWC Crane through the U.S. Department of Defense, focusing on rapid innovation solutions for complex engineering challenges faced by the Navy. This experience exposed me to cutting-edge systems and designs, enabling me to contribute to my team's efforts in solving these pressing problems. Consequently, this experience helped me identify skills I would like to improve on in the future, while leveraging my existing skills in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.Currently I am working as an Electrical Engineering Student Trainee in the Airborne Electronic Attack Systems Divison at NSWC Crane where I am gaining great experience in EW systems that I can apply to future roles. So far, my journey as an electrical engineering student has been enriched by both internship experiences. These invaluable opportunities have shaped my passion for problem-solving, instilling in me a drive to continually refine my skills and make a positive impact in the engineering field.
