In this role I was a field engineer based in Toronto. I was responsible for supporting 40+ companies in and around the GTA. The majority of networks I supported where Windows Server 2003, Exchange 2003, Windows XP, Office 2003 and Blackberry Enterprise Server 4.0 and 4.1.

My duties in this role where varied as the company was in it's infancy when I joined. I was initially employed to work in Silicon Valley, San Jose California. In this time I built a server farm and network infrastructure for the US operation as they where running on standalone desktops.I also implemented an office move to a new building; this involved completely new infrastructure and the setup of a VPN Tunnel over to the UK office in Reading.My role as SSE involved supporting our NAS (Network Attached Storage - back end fiber channel and front end gigabit Ethernet over fiber or copper) product for the whole of the USA.I was later relocated back to England where I was System's Support Engineer looking after our UK and European customer base. This involved installations of our NAS device, network analysis, problem solving of networks, fiber channel backup implementations and application management/interoperability testing.

Responsible for all IT related office moves and installs, this covered 4500 users across 14 buildings in Reading. Implemented the rollout of NT4 to the desktops of all Reading users to make them millennium compliant.Project representative for the Reading campus, this involved impact assessing all projects at their initiation stage.Produced a merger document to bring the working practices of London and Reading Facilities Management moves into line.

Recruited initially as a Senior Configuration Engineer and later promoted to Configuration Supervisor.Planned, installed and successfully upgraded an NT4 rollout for Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, a major finance trading house.Implemented the relocation of Ultima Business Systems.Dealt with all PC and server problems raised by the sales force and by customers direct.Continuous planning for technical training for the configuration team.Responsible for five configuration engineers and the day-to-day running of the configuration area.

Recruited as an Electronics Technician, which involved a ten weeks intensive mathematics course and a fifty weeks electronics course.Responsible for the issue and safe usage of military weapons.Daily physical and military training.

Appointed to configure hardware into DEC PC systems, working within strict deadlines.Integrated video cards, Ethernet cards, memory upgrades, CD Roms, floppy drives and SCSI drives.Dealt with DOS 5/6 and Windows 3.11, OS2 and SCO.; Responsible for supervising nightshifts on a monthly basis.Successfully implemented procedures for the configuration area that resulted in it being awarded the ISO9002 accreditation.
