Undertaking research and providing commercial consultancy in the thermal environment of marine and terrestrial cables for their design and operation of Marine High Voltage Cables. This includes analysis of the spatial and temporal variations in the ambient temperatures at cable depths; the thermal properties of the burial environment; and variations in depth of cover. Also undertake bed mobility studies/research and geological and archaeological seabed assessments for cables and other offshore infrastructure assets. Major current focus on the time-series analysis of Distributed Temperature Sensing data from cables for optimising operation, informing future design and monitoring the natural environment.
