Preform foot and vehicle patrols, observing any irregularities around or near the external fence line. Most foot patrols were within a 5–10-mile radius that we would perform three movements per week. After the patrols were complete, would compile reports to higher command to report any security risk. Responsible for the operational control and movement of the squad commander’s vehicle during QRF (quick reaction force) operations. Ability to establish a position and provide security and or overwatch during call ups. Provided security of LVN grey water removal. Insured PMCS standards were met daily. Ability to identify and diagnose corresponding vehicle issues prior to vehicle mobility. Perform ECP (Entrance/Exit Control Point) Guard, checking in and out personal coming in or leaving the compound. Perform Identification checks, vehicle inspections, and communicate with an interpreter when necessary to assist with foreign locals. Logging information into our post logbook. Hourly radio checks with the NCOIC or OIC (Noncommissioned officer in charge or Officer in charge). Trained and Certified in Multiple Crew Serve Weapon systems. Examples included, but not limited to; M2, M4, M9, M16, M19, M203, M249, M240B, Frag Grenades, Flash Bangs, and Pen flares. Trained and Certified to operate multiple wheeled vehicles. Examples include, but are not limited to; HMMWV, ASV, LMTV, and Wrecker. Other Military equipment used; PVS-14, CCO M68, ACIP, Blue Force Tracker. Ability to perform a 9-line MEDEVAC and an IED/ UXO Report.

Conducted countless hours of security patrols, convoys security and route clearance for KBR and LVN transportation of personnel, goods and equipment through the most dangerous locations in Iraq. Provided and processed evidence, location and description of enemy interference, road hazards, or possible IED's (Improvised Explosive Device's) that could or were impeding our convoys and personnel. Ensure familiarity with ROE (rules of engagement) and PID (positive identification). Processed many security reports to higher command which was used for reconnaissance and priorities the safety and security of other personnel utilizing the routes. Responsible for trouble shooting crew serve weapon issues, cleaning and maintaining vehicle and weapons equipment, inventory, and ammunition prior to roll out, and crew serve zeroing. Provided training to incoming soldiers and advised leadership on how to quickly and more effectively utilize crew serve weapons to maintain a a state of readiness as well as held a class as an instructor providing technical knowledge of crew serve zeroing and PMCS (Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services) Provide Perimeter Security in a designated tower watching critical areas external to the FOB. Report abnormalities in a watch log and communicating our observations with higher using our ACIP radio designated to our duty tower. Our duties were to observe local nationals, report activities. Always observant for any potential threats, such as digging, cell phone or imagery usage by the local nationals, abnormalities in behavior and vehicle movement or objects placed nearby that could be potential threats.

Received specialized certification training as Ships Security Defense Force Officer. Training included baton training, handcuffing, OC spray, weapons marksmanship, as well as search and seizure. Responsible for roving security checks throughout the ship, performing identification checks at designated entrance/exit control points, operating/identifying objects within personal bags coming through our check point using an X-Ray machine. Utilize security detection devices for contraband and weapons, and efficient with police radios for calls for service and emergency notifications. Maintained watch logs which included any specific details about what transpired during the shift, radio check times, and relief turnover. When criminal conduct and contraband was identified, conducted criminal investigations, and provided reports to the Ships Commander for criminal adjudication utilizing the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
