Justin Ely is a native of Minnesota, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Astrophysics, and an additional Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.In college he developed an interest in observational astronomy and data analysis. He spent the next seven years working for the Space Telescope Science Institute, performing instrument calibration for the Hubble Space Telescope and researching a subset of supermassive blackholes called Active Galactic Nuclei.Justin also holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University, where he focused on data science and cloud computing. Outside of work, he loves to read and has enjoyed scuba diving in the Caribbean, Iceland, Mexico, Belize, and even Minnesota.
