In 2017 I started a youth hockey league in Victoria called the OSHL (Open Spring Hockey League). My extensive leadership, organizational skills and time management tools enabled me to make this league a huge success in it’s inaugural year by hiring and training staff and creating a positive work environment. This lead to a staff that enjoyed their job, had great values and helped the program get off to a great start. My customer service and interpersonal skills with fellow staff, hockey players and parents has helped grow the program in each of the past 3 years. I was able to successfully organize the league and staffing for the 2018 season while working abroad in China. The OSHL has grown from 40 players to over 200 players in the first 3 seasons. Project Management/Budget - Prepared documentation identifying cost benefit analysis, project initiative, risks, rewards, target markets and necessary timelines to complete the project. I prepared project charters and tracked project progress based on project deliverables, project scope and budgets, to align with the vision and mission of the hockey league. I developed options, strategies and approaches to address issues and service/program delivery needs. As well, I was responsible for creating terms of reference and drafting project plans to identify timelines, deliverables, methodologies and resource requirements. I managed every aspect of the project management charter and ensured that the project remained on time and on budget. I saw the project through from beginning to end and was able to successfully grow the program each of the first 3 years.

I was in charge of the short and long term projects within the Kaiwen Sports Academy. Our main focus was building an Ice Hockey Program for the students attending the Kaiwen Sports Academy. Over the course of the year we were able to achieve our goals and grow the program bigger than expected. Project Management - I was responsible for defining and controlling all project activities to ensure successful delivery within scope, schedule, budget and quality. Short term projects included scheduling the day to day operations, creating and implementing new programs for the academy, organizing the scheduling and staffing for our team, creating and implementing training and development sessions for staff, hosting weekly meetings for discussion and evaluation of the current project as well as preparing a SWAT analysis each month to discuss the state the program was in and what we need to do moving forward to get to the next level. I was responsible for setting and executing the short and long term goals for our program.

I worked closely with the Executive Director to help create more structure within the current projects. I prioritized projects, created timelines for completion and set up a tracking system to ensure all projects were on schedule. I was the project lead on multiple projects and was responsible for reviewing, editing and updating the website for the entire branch. Program, Administrative and Financial Support – I worked with a variety of team members to ensure that all administrative tasks were tracked and completed for all aspects of each project in a timely and efficient manner. I was responsible for planning meetings, managing budgets and providing financial summary reports to senior management. As well, I identified and brought forward any issues/ concerns that senior management needed to be aware of and ensured that the team was in compliance with financial and administrative policies and procedures.

As the project manager on the Assessment Team, I was responsible for working on several short and long term projects. I would ensure that all current projects were being monitored and the tasks were being completed in a timely manner. Project Management – Within the Curriculum and Assessment Branch I prepared project charters and tracked project progress based on project deliverables, project scope and budgets, to align with the direction of the ministry and their policies and procedures. I developed options, strategies and approaches to address issues and service/program delivery needs. As well, I was responsible for creating terms of reference and drafting project plans to identify timelines, deliverables, methodologies and resource requirements.Research and Analysis – I worked on a variety of research projects to identify, analyze, summarize, provide advice and present information in a variety of forms to senior management. This included estimating timelines, selecting research methodologies and determining resource requirements. In this position, I was responsible for collecting and analyzing data. I used Microsoft Excel to gather and organize information, provide support and guidance in specific areas relating to Classroom Assessment.

General Manager - April 2014 to September 2016Arena and League Coordinator - March 2013 to September 2016Hockey Coach/Maintenance - September 2010 to March 2013As General Manager I was responsible for all aspects of supervision and management of a team of up to 20 people. I led all employee training and development sessions. I was responsible for performance plans and performance reviews for all staff. I continually worked with staff individually and as a team to assist in reaching our team’s full potential. I have excellent skills in identifying when to support and work with my team members and when to step back and let them lead themselves. I seek out opportunities to support my staff to achieve their individual goals as well as our work goals. I enjoy being a valued member of a team as well as being a strong leader of both employees and volunteers. I also worked closely with our management and board keeping them up to date on all important information relevant to the business. I worked in a fast-paced environment, and was required to deal with all issues that arose within the organization professionally and proficiently, while always establishing and maintaining positive relationships. I ensured that all of my communications with peers, staff, volunteers and clients were handled in a friendly and professional way.

I was responsible for reviewing all Recreation Centre’s in Calgary to identify resources and programs, and provide a comparative analysis to management. Accountabilities included defining individual facility specifics, collecting, recording and analyzing the data through spreadsheets and creating a comparative analysis for management. Recommendations put forth through my work were implemented a year later across Recreation Centre’s in Calgary.During my four-month co-op position from May to August of 2012, I led a research project identifying facility conditions in the Calgary area. For this project I was responsible for collecting and analyzing data for over 200 facilities, and providing recommendations on facility upgrades for a 10-year plan and $10 million upgrading budget. Recommendations made from this research were implemented the following year.
