Hi, I’m Justin Wiley! My entrepreneurial journey began at UC Berkeley, where I was a student in the College of Natural Resources and co-founded BicyCal, a student-run bike shop and campus bike share program with a vision for accessible transportation. After graduating, I founded Green Bike Share, one of the first dockless bike share systems, deploying innovative locking technology that helped drive early growth in the industry.In 2012, I joined Social Bicycles, which later rebranded as JUMP Bikes, as the second employee and VP of Business Development. Over six years, I helped scale the company globally and build partnerships that led to a $200M acquisition by Uber in 2018. At Uber, I served as Head of Business Development for JUMP, helping to lead the deployment of 30,000 bikes across 22 cities and 9 countries while building charging infrastructure for micro-mobility systems.Continuing in transportation, I joined Swiftly to develop strategic partnerships that advanced public transit technology and improved system interoperability. My work included aligning transit agencies with open data standards to enable more efficient and accessible transit solutions.After Swiftly, I worked with startups like Denizen (sustainable 3D-printing), scaled Replo (YC S21) from $0 to $2M ARR in under a year, and founded Ascend Labs, where I helped early-stage companies grow by building scalable go-to-market systems.Now, I’m returning to my roots at UC Berkeley as the Strategy & Development at the Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS). In this role, I’m focused on expanding ITS’s $25M annual research funding through public-private partnerships, industry consortia, grants, and innovative revenue streams—all aimed at solving critical mobility challenges like climate change, urban congestion, and equitable transportation access. 🚲🚌🚆
