Justin Knapp – Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP)Justin Knapp is committed to supporting justice impacted individuals through their reentry journeys and dedicated to making a positive impact in the field of workforce development.As a Certified Workforce Development Professional with more than two years of experience in workforce development, his journey has been rooted in supporting Justice-Impacted individuals, including those who have been incarcerated in the Department of Corrections, county jails, and those navigating probation, drug and mental health courts.As a Career Planner at the McHenry County Workforce Network, Justin conducts comprehensive skills and interest assessments to help job seekers identify their strengths and weaknesses. He performs risk and needs assessments to uncover potential barriers to employment and offer employment strategies to reach employment goals. Justin's work also involves facilitating the use of WIOA Pell funds to support job seekers in obtaining occupational skills training and industry-recognized credentials.He has actively developed and nurtured professional relationships with several reentry-related organizations, including The Second Opportunity Program, the Illinois Center for Specialized Professional Support (ICSPS), The Restore Justice Project of Illinois, The Justice Impacted Employment Workgroup, and Career Pathways for Targeted Populations. Justins collaboration with these organizations has enhanced his ability to provide effective support and build meaningful opportunities for those seeking to rebuild their lives after incarceration.Beyond direct support services, Justin engages with broader audiences through speeches and presentations via podcasts available on platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music, as well as through the Department of Corrections’ internal tablet software. These efforts aim to share knowledge, inspire hope, and provide practical advice for Justice-Impacted individuals.Drawing from Justin's own lived experience with reentry, he leverages his background as a powerful tool to assist others in overcoming obstacles and navigating the path to a successful future, from a unique and rare level of relatable experience that has proven to be a great asset to inspire and motivate those of similar backgrounds. Justin's passion lies in helping individuals from diverse backgrounds, from those on probation to those newly released from long-term incarceration, to find and seize new opportunities for personal and professional growth.
