Senior Researcher Applied Research TeamMelbourne Water Oct 2013 - Oct 2016Simultaneous with my involvement with Integrated Planning, I also worked with the Applied Research Team where I developed and managed an Integrated Water Management research program for IWM Research Stocktake by collaborating with WSAA focusing on Drainage Management, Waterways Management, Sewerage Management, Water Supply and Urban Planning. I also handled projects by serving as the Project Manager for the $2M Pasteurisation Pilot Plant trial at WTP for Class A water production revalidation with the Victorian Department of Health. In addition, I worked on the MW/Victoria University Project where I assessed toxic ‘algal’ blooms in Victorian water supplies by developing MT-PCR to analyse toxic cyanobacterial DNA as well as on Troups Creek Dual Stormwater Harvesting Scheme and MW/CAPIM where I monitored micropollutants in urban storm water to assess the potential risk of irrigation schemes. -

Coordinated interactions with stakeholder groups and communication to target audience.•Conducted studies of biofiltration systems to determine the optimum design configuration (vegetation, media, outlet specifications) and operating conditions for achieving long-term, sustainable pollutant removal. Presented results to a wide range of groups, both in technical detail, but also in ‘key message’ form, depending on the audience.•Led field studies of biofiltration systems across Australia which analysed their environmental performance. These studies were crucial in establishing the credibility of systems, and overcoming the doubts often held by stakeholders (e.g. contractors, municipal engineers).•Establishment of a data base and website to collate and disseminate findings from the demonstration sites (see www.monash.edu.au/fawb).•Publishing of industry and technical reports into biofiltration system operation for Melbourne Water and other Statutory agencies
