Motivated to learn, grow, and excel to become a full-time firefighter/EMT. Being a student-athlete, I have developed many skills. My strengths are in leadership, time management, and being a team player. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, the community, and other agencies.As I continue toward completing my fire science certificate and EMT training. I wanted to share my recent volunteer experience where I was named volunteer of the month, in March 2023. I was chosen by my professor to assist the volunteer staff of highly trained and educated instructors every Saturday morning at a Therapeutic Riding Off Track Rehabilitation Ranch in Woodland, CA. I was tasked with two responsibilities. The sidewalker's responsibilities are to be the instructor's eyes and ears during a riding lesson and to keep clients (young children and adolescents with disabilities) safe on and around the horse. The leader is one of the most challenging duties assigned to a volunteer. Their responsibility is the horse, but also need to be aware of all parties involved, instructors, riders as well as volunteers assisting in the lesson. This opportunity opened my eyes to a greater sense of patience required as well as taught me how to be more flexible and handle sensitive human interactions more effectively.
