Master teacher is a supervisory professional development role. I observe teachers at Greenwich English and Management Colleges in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Gold Coast, providing feedback, encouraging best practice and developing programmes for improvement. I mentor new teachers and regularly teach demonstration lessons for them to observe. The aim of this role is to foster and maintain a strong teaching community that is valued and supported.

I have instructed programmes including Certificate IV in TESOL (Teacher Training), Certificate IV in Academic English, and teach in other courses such as IELTS and General English as required. My main focus is the Cambridge exam suite at FCE and CAE levels. I design curriculum, create new teaching materials, and provide mentorship for new staff, including regular professional development sessions. I represent the college in induction videos and promotional videos for local and international markets.

This was a three-year project aimed at improving language teaching methodology, and therefore student results, in high schools in Shenzhen, China. I conducted masterclasses for a select group of 30 teachers both in situ and online. It was exciting work and I was delighted to share my experience and insights with these teachers.

This position included the day-to-day running of over 20 English-language classes (room allocation, student testing and allocation, problem solving), teacher induction and training, resource development and classroom teaching.

At Milton College I was Director of Teacher Training, responsible for the administration of the Intermediate level English classes, and taught in both programmes. This included updating and creating materials, examining and assessing students for promotion or certification, and reporting to the Director of Studies.

At Uniworld, I worked as a classroom teacher instructing English language courses and was the assistant to the Director for two years. For the last year I worked as the Acting Director of Studies. This position involved the running of the school in terms of hiring and training new staff, inducting and assessing student intakes, student allocation, classroom allocation, producing all relevant paperwork and conforming to industry regulation, ensuring and acquiring endorsement from regulating bodies and reporting to the company owners.

I had the great pleasure of teaching English, Drama and Dance at Bathurst High, a Centre of Excellence in the Performing Arts. On top of running efficient, engaging and instructive classes, I was selected to mark the HSC exams in English three years running, ran teacher training in Drama and Dance for the Department of Education, tutored at State Drama Camps, ran regional training for both teachers and students, and co-produced four winning Rock Eisteddfod entries and two school musicals.
