Worked in a cGMP environment performing quality control testing for instruments and and diagnostic products. Responsible for testing of reagents and instruments, completing validations, and calibrating equipment. Responsible for environmental and employee contamination testing. Maintained detailed records as required by the quality system. Wrote a work instruction document for use by co-workers. Spearheaded the creation of a tracking system for instrument calibrations.

I worked as part of a quality control team to test reagents and finished product using an array of molecular and microbiology techniques in support of manufacturing efforts. I also helped formulate reagents and conduct experiments. I learned to adhere to Quality Control Procedures (QCPs), properly document all work, and effectively communicate results and observations at meetings and in reports. - Followed SOPs to extract nucleic acids from potatoes in a plant virologist’s lab.- Tested over 1000 potato samples for viruses using ELISA procedures. Also tested several samples using reverse-transcription multiplex PCR.- Presented a poster on the genetic diversity of Potato virus Y (PVY).
