Diplomat and tech leader with experience driving decision making by senior leaders including President Obama and C-Suite members at Facebook and Robinhood. Currently I’m leading teams that are building international partnerships to advance cooperation on AI, biotech, and quantum in the Secretary of State’s Special Envoy for Critical and Emerging Technology Office. Previously, I advanced American interests with regard to places that have some of the greatest impact on the international system: Russia, China, and Iran. In the private sector I led strategic realignment efforts that drastically improved user safety. For example: At Facebook I helped build and lead a team called Strategic Response in the CEO and COO’s office that led efforts to prioritize how to best reduce the likelihood the platforms would be used to incite violence. I also led the teams responsible for preparing for elections across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. As part of that effort I developed a global minimum standard for trust and safety and secured over $200 million in additional funding to build out the appropriate product, policy, and operational teams and products helping protect the most vulnerable populations. At Robinhood I built incident response, strategic communications, and risk mitigation teams and processes that drastically reduced the number of employee hours spent responding to incidents as well as the impact of those incidents on top line company metrics. In both the public and private sector I have quickly built top performing diverse teams to achieve top organizational priorities.
