It has been a dream of mine to join the racing scene since I was very young. Many people are born into motor sports but that opportunity was never presented to me. Formula SAE allowed me to apply my skills and knowledge gained from the classroom into the shop . Texas Tech had a team in 2005 and was first exposed to me in the fall of 2006 by a friend of mine who was on the team. However, that same fall semester the program fell apart and ceased to exist. I was faced with much disappointment and went on to join and develop my leadership skills in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.After completing my engineering co-op in the spring of 2009 I came back to Texas Tech with the idea and motivation to bring Formula SAE back to Tech. After much research, networking, and planning Texas Tech Formula SAE became an official organization in October of 2009.I felt the college of engineering and Texas Tech as a whole needed this program. Not only because of the fun in building a real race car but the real life experience that can be applied in both the engineering and business world. There are many benefits to being apart of this organization and felt it would open doors for students looking for a way into motor sports just as I was once searching for. From fabrication to cost analysis Formula SAE has many opportunities for students to get involved in.The organization has roughly fifty members and about twenty active participants. The shop is located in the mechanical engineering building and students work in between classes and on the weekends to accomplish the impossible in 9 months.Formula SAE has been more rewarding than any other project I have been apart of. Since 2011 Texas Tech Red Raider Racing continues to compete to this day in local and world competitions.

Aided several engineers in various projects at the Drive System Center Summer 2010 Worked with team of engineers on the 412 Six Sigma black belt project

Tested and evaluated multi-purpose regulators in a state of the art R&D lab Worked with several engineers on various regulator projects

Worked with a team of engineering students and Bell Helicopter engineers on the V-22 Osprey to develop a solution for the boot camp project given a one week deadline.Improved a loading procedure and ballast design used for the V-22 Osprey aircraft in preparation for engine testing and the solution was implemented in October of 2009
