Research, Teaching, Mindfulness and MoreI love research; I'm indefatigable and curious โ discovering things and applying new knowledge to real-world situations. I'm particularly interested in culture, wellbeing/illbeing, and digital technology. Where these areas intersect, that's where you will find me asking and answering meaningful questions.I'm also passionate about teaching and learning โ I see myself as a bit of an 'experience architect'. I create stimulating, safe spaces where learners flourish. I have designed growth-promoting learning experiences across the full spectrum of psychology courses. I'm also a graduate of the teacher training pathway for mindfulness-based stress reduction, and I deliver the 8-week program or a derivative of it whenever I get the chance.I'm devoted to service โ I am because we are. Being useful - of service to my fellow human beings - is part of my reason for being. Service (being useful), compassion and transparency are among my core values. I'm a psychologist for the information age. I have extensive leadership experience and a passion for knowledge creation and transfer. I have been a departmental chair and the director of the Culture, Cognition and Well-Being Research Cluster in the department of psychology at Zayed University. I have published over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and hundreds of articles for the media. I'm enthusiastic about promoting the public understanding of psychology.Specialist AreasDeveloping computerised psychometric software and online research protocols.
