The concept behind Formula SAE is that a fictional manufacturing company has contracted a student design team to develop a small Formula-style race car. The prototype race car is to be evaluated for its potential as a production item. The target marketing group for the race car is the non-professional weekend autocross racer. Each student team designs, builds and tests a prototype based on a series of rules, whose purpose is both ensuring on-track safety and promoting clever problem solving. The prototype race car is then judged in a number of different events to evaluate its overall performance and safety. As a mechanical engineer member of Mountain Lion Motorsports I focus on aiding in the design and construction of various components of the prototype we are designing to take to competition. The projects I have worked on include • Aided in design and construction of prototype number one • Research and development for fiberglass exterior • Aiding in building fiberglass exterior • Research and development of rear suspension for the competition prototype car - Including: - Wheel hub - Motor shroud -Requirements: Protect the electric motor (EMRAX 208) from water• Thermal analysis of our 280 V Panasonic prismatic battery pack• Design, analysis, and simulation modeling of various components using SolidWorks (Flow simulation, Thermal, FEA, CFD)

The doorbell dog training device project was worked on by the team of five University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) Mechanical engineering seniors under the sponsorship of Jeff Atkinson the owner of the Racingcows LLC. The project goal is to design and build a device to train a dog using positive reinforcement. My involvement included:• CAD modeled entire prototype ensuring functionality, safety, usability, and aesthetics prescribed by sponsor and target market• Designed device housing to smoothly integrate electric stepper motor, PCB circuit boards, and power supply• FMEA analysis of final product design ensuring the device can withstand its environment and intended use with a FOS of two • Performed target market research to ensure the prototype meets all expectations of the end users• Performed intellectual patent research to safeguarding against patent violations • Collaborated with engineering team, sponsor, and target market to successfully create a functioning porotype during harsh academic hardship due to COVID-19 pandemic (ONE OF FEW STUDENT TEAMS TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE OUR PROJECT)
