Provide the product and technology teams with data analytics capability and insights to understand customer needs and steer strategy. Also a thought leader in the business and mentor junior staff on: understanding business goals, analytics and programming.Within the Advanced Analytics team in New Energy (encompassing: solar panels, batteries, virtual power plant and smart home), write code to build models and visualisations to solve business and technical problems across: Energy Systems Modelling and Customer Analytics. Company outline: ASC Shipbuilding is a world-class defence company currently building three 147m long, 7000 tonne, Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) ships. The distributed control system on-board comprises 3 redundant mission-critical networks, 19 servers, 1000s ofpieces of remote controlled & monitored equipment. Role: Responsible for overseeing work by designer Navantia, ASC production and engineering to produce a highly robust distributed control system for the AWDs. This included: engineering design reviews, design task optimisations, technical investigations, creating design & testingtools, liaising with departments to resolve issues, and analysing program code and design data.Key Achievements:• Made accessible 100s of megabytes of AWD Control and Networking data in hierarchical form. Achieved by developing an SQL database in Visual Basic, and joining third-party company databases and 33 differently formatted MS Access databases. Advanced searches made possibleby storing search criteria along with logical AND/OR operations in a table, then from it creating SQL strings using a finite state machine.• Prevented at least an additional 100% production re-work cost of many of AWD's Control System equipment installations, by routinely performing intricate SQL queries of critical design data in order to identify errors.• Increased the efficiency of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) software testing by automating the manual checking of 1000s of function calls and their coded inputs against the design database. A testing framework was developed in C# using regular expressions and set theory, and then from it, several applications were created for the specific tests.• Minimised project risks by providing vital technical information to engineering and project management at ASC for a total of 9 months whilst working at Navantia in Spain. I was required to perform my role in the Navantia team, and concurrently seek and record technical notes weekly.

Company outline: Builder and now maintenance provider of Australia's six 80m long, 3000 tonne Collins Class submarines- the largest diesel-electric powered submarines in the world. Sister company to ASC Shipbuilding.Role: Work within departments: Software Engineering, Engineering Support, Project Engineering, Logistics Engineering. Adapt to a wide variety of roles through overcoming the learning challenges associated with switching teams regularly.Key Achievements:• Analysed 100s of megabytes of submarine data across all 176 submarine systems, using: SQL, MS Access, MS Excel and Visual Basic to determine equipment failure rates.• Coordinated 5 concurrent submarine repair processes, liaising with 8 different departments for 6 months during the busy submarine full-cycle-docking period.• Provided engineering support to production teams for 32 submarine systems across 3 locations in Australia; investigated, researched and coordinated solutions through to conclusion with stakeholders.• Demonstrated increased efficiency and reliability of a new electronic governor for the submarine's diesel engines, by using Matlab and Simulink in a hardware-in-the-loop simulation.
