Primarily work in with the professional liability defense team defending doctors, accountants, engineers, and other professions from malpractice claims. Conduct research to draft memoranda, pleadings and motions. Attend hearings and extensively evaluate discovery work to prepare for pre-trail issues and trial.

Conducted legal research to assist in reaching conclusions regarding motions before the Court. Drafted orders, bench memos, and other legal documents to assist Judge Gregory Lay of the 27th Judicial District

Assist attorneys in case development through extensive research across a variety of areas. Request, develop and analyze discovery materials for attorneys. Collaborate with attorneys to have effective case management.

Conducted research and analysis on issues related to coastal development, water quality, endangered species and concentrated animal feeding operations. Composed memorandum for notice and comment period for agency rule-making purposes and to help develop future litigation across a variety of environmental issues.

Drafted report and recommendation opinions to be adopted by the Court. Composed bench memorandum to update the Judge for status conferences. Observed matters before the court throughout each stage of litigation in across a wide variety of cases.

Assist undergraduate writers compose and structure essays. I work closely with individual writers to advance their grammatical and composition skills.

Office of Enforcement Compliance Assurance: Pesticides, Waste, and Toxics BranchExamined, categorized, and summarized lead paint violation cases under TSCA for the Office of Compliance to evaluate EPA’s targeting efforts for Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) cases. This information was cross referenced against an Environmental Justice Database to better protect children and low socio-economic areas. Researched and compared the FDA’s use of an online database for drug information and labeling to further a proposed database for FIFRA’s database of pesticides and active ingredients. Researched the categorization of Bed-Bugs under FIFRA bringing to the surface an Environmental Justice Issue and advocating policy change. Office of Enforcement Compliance Assurance: Enforcement Targeting and Data DivisionWorked on transferring the documents that explain proper data entry for ICIS, which is used by the inspectors after visiting sites to communicate their findings to the Office of Compliance. Developed training modules for online training modules to assist inspectors on proper use of ICIS. Throughout this experience I was also introduced to the new NPDES electronic reporting system and how the proposed rule would be implemented.
