I joined Urbint as a software architect and have been assisting in growing the engineering team. I have been responsible for migrations of container architecture into Google Cloud using Kubernetes. I also handle security audits and management and enforcement of security policy from a desktop level through to coding best practices.I took the lead on the Machine Learning team and grew it from the ground up while still managing customer deliverables, hitting deadlines and maintaining rigorous data standards. I have been building a bridge between Machine Learning and Development teams to ensure a cohesive work environment and the ability to develop expertise across disciplines.My primary responsibilities in Machine Learning involved systems work as well as communicating methodology and strategy to both the business and clients as well as ensuring that we are applying the most effective tools in a cutting edge environment to solve the problems brought to us by our clients.Once the Machine Learning team was grown and stabilized, I moved to VP Engineering to organize and grow the software development, deployment and maintenance practices and ship solid software solutions to our customers.

I lead technology initiatives within Constructive Media to maintain uptime, support growth and optimize operating expenses on a suite of active websites with over 50 million monthly users. I planned and executed a strategy to reduce hosting expenses by 50% while improving website availability and flexibility with a migration to Amazon Web Services. I also reduced expenses across the board by renegotiating vendor contracts and optimizing product utilization. I provided interim support for systems security, maintenance and emergency response, including rolling out a hot secondary location while performing the migration.I also built internal prototype tools and dashboards to maximize advertising spend and income across a variety of revenue streams and lead generation paths, integrating Google Analytics, DFP, Drupal platforms, Facebook Advertising API, Taboola's API and a number of other disparate systems to provide a unified mechanism for correlating data and making data-driven business decisions.I worked with the board as well as third parties to produce answers to complex business questions that drove the direction of functionality investments, financial projections and acquisitions.

I co-founded and lead technology at Synced Health which was acquired by NOMi for our mobile platform and flexible enterprise integration.While at NOMi, I served initially as both Lead of the Mobile Team and Lead of Data Infrastructure Team handling data ingestion from camera, wireless and bluetooth sensors from retail locations across the world. I implemented an ingestion system with Kafka, Java, Zookeeper and Hadoop (HDFS + MR + Hive) to produce business reports, while maintaining a legacy integration during phase out to a MongoDB server. I also led the expansion of these systems to include a real time Apache Storm pipeline to extract key insights from the data in near real-time.During a restructuring of the organization, I was put in charge of the entire engineering organization and led a large systems audit to cut AWS costs by 50% while providing an improved level of service. I rolled out proper full disk encryption to all data systems and implemented a security audit process to maintain compliance.

Joined Buddy Media in 2011 as a Senior Engineer and organized large scale social media integration for Fortune 10 companies. Tackled complex performance and scaling problems from a software and database perspective for Buddy Media's premiere product - ConversationBuddy.Remained with the company through the acquisition by Salesforce where I was put in charge of the Publisher team inside of the newly minted Salesforce Social Studio product. Labelled a key employee for the acquisition. Designed and oversaw the completion of performance optimizations to cut page load times from 30 seconds+ to below 3 seconds (10x performance increases while handling up to 100x large volume of social media assets).Lead a team of software engineers and QA engineers to successfully deliver multiple new software offerings. Primary engineering work went into enterprise integration and custom workflows to support large organizations.Removed cross-team barriers to improve customer support quality and ensuring the alignment of software teams with other business units. Handled significant customer interaction to provide ensure that key customers received top tier service and had their voices heard within the engineer organization. Tackled larger cross-engineering architecture problems and designed QA and Systems practices that were adopted by the rest of the organization.Primary tools used included PHP, Java, Mongo, Percona MySQL, AngularJS, RabbitMQ, Redis, and Memcache.

Built a complete, integrated Ad management platform on Amazon Web Services with a machine-learning driven decision engine to hyper-optimize advertisements running over 200 million impressions per day in 2010.Early adopter of Cassandra and Redis for managing massive data volume and reporting on it with prescriptive goals of guiding ad creative choices in an automated fashion across global markets. Created PHP web applications to manage and report on the data.Created a dashboard for automating the scaling process before Amazon offered it as a service. Worked closely with the business to ensure that technology aligned with the business needs and to meet the load requirements necessary. Enabled heatmaps on ads running at massive scale to provide deeper insights into which creatives were most effective and why.Managed security compliance including PCI compliance.

Developed the Matchmaker Cafe platform from the ground up. We created one of the earliest Facebook Dating applications running on Amazon Web Services, included an API, custom integrated business dashboards and advertising pipelines. This was expanded into a kiosk-centered iOS application for a physical cafe that was shown on NYC TV and in DNAInfo https://bit.ly/2H5vMGcIntegrated advertising systems, analytics platforms and managed developers across backend and front end work, including a consumer iOS application.

Began as desktop support and expanded into building internal applications for the University and migrating paper-based processes into trackable electronic systems. Successful projects that I lead and/or implemented included:- UConn Event Calendar - This application is still in use over a decade later at https://events.uconn.edu. I was initially tasked with creating the Event calendar for a single user, but took the initiative to make it dynamic and flexible enough to roll out to the entire university. Worked with other IT groups within the university to manage its deployment and packaging it as a calendar solution for other universities.- DNA Biotech Lab E-Commerce Platform - created a boutique e-commerce platform for the DNA sequencing lab that was able to handle invoicing and intra-university billing systems- University Tenure System - created the workflow system used for collecting records and feedback to migrate the university Tenure process to a web-based mechanismAs a security analyst, I created and built technical enforcement for policies to protect the security of a complex, multi-regional, 60,000 host network covering PCI compliance, HIPAA requirements and a complex DMCA management process. Implemented the network access control systems. Deployed custom stacks onto VMWare ESX and ESXi clusters. Assisted with the roll out of Splunk and integrating it. Deployed LDAP and Kerberos systems. Maintained the Open Source Apache module mod_auth_cas. Designed federated authentication using Shibboleth. Created web based management platform for DHCP and DNS systems. Invented a toolset to assist the police with rapid identification and recovery of stolen devices using ICMP traps and trilateration of wifi sensors. Built automated notification systems for network border security integrating with Fortinet, F5, Packeteer traffic shapers and custom honeypots.
