About Justin Dent

With over 10 years of experience in the education sector, I am passionate about creating and scaling programs that empower learners from diverse and marginalized backgrounds to thrive in the 21st century. As the Founding Executive Director of Outschool.Org, I lead the nonprofit arm of Outschool, the leading platform for live online classes for K-12 learners. My mission is to ensure that every child, regardless of their economic or racial circumstances, can access an education that reflects their aspirations and identity.Since joining Outschool.Org in 2020, I have spearheaded the organization's philanthropic and social impact response to COVID-19, which provided more than 35,000 families with scholarships to enroll in online classes and distributed millions of dollars in grants to partner organizations to support learning during the pandemic. I have also built and led an exceptional team, raised and managed over $12M in funding, and established strategic partnerships with schools, districts, nonprofits, and corporations. Some of the skills that I use and develop in this role include executive leadership, fundraising, strategic partnerships, nonprofit management, DEIB, and government relations.

Over the past few years, I’ve served as Founder and Executive Director at Outschool.org. I led Outschool.org and Outschool’s philanthropic and social impact response to COVID-19, which provided more than 35,000 economically marginalized families with access to online learning and distributed millions of dollars in grants to organizations to support learning during the pandemic. Today, I’m focused on ensuring that economic and racial marginalization aren’t barriers to the pursuit of learning and enrichment such that that every community, community and learner can access an education that reflects their aspirations and identity. In this role, I’ve built and scaled an exceptional team, directly raised over $13M, managed projects across product, CSR, DEIB, government affairs and served as a thought leader for equity in education — speaking at forums such as SXSW and representing both organizations in the press.
