About Justine Jarvinen

I am an engineer by trade and a seasoned executive in the energy and climate transition. I provide a unique cross-sector perspective with international experience spanning the energy, utilities, finance and non-profit sectors over nearly 3 decades. I have been a highly-rated equity analyst and have been employed by the world’s top energy companies, and in technical, commercial, strategic, management, advisory and governance roles. I have also been a non-executive director on a dozen boards, including ASX-listed, government-owned, start-ups, scale-ups and not-for-profit boards. My board roles include chairman, non-executive director, company secretary, audit & risk committee, and people & culture committee. I currently lead Aurecon’s Sustainability & Climate Change advisory practice, which spans 5 key focus areas: • climate physical risk and resilience; • climate transition strategy and ESG; • decarbonisation and energy transition; • sustainable systems and circular economy; and • carbon markets. I also lead Aurecon’s Risk and Assurance Strategy advisory practice, which includes: • strategic risk and assurance; • enterprise risk and assurance; and • capital asset program risk and assurance. My team of 120+ experts serve clients across Australia, and partner with Aurecon’s sustainability and climate specialists in New Zealand and Asia to support our international clients. The team also collaborates with Aurecon’s experts in Environment and Planning, Stakeholder Engagement and Change, Infrastructure Advisory, Asset Management Advisory, and our Engineering and Design practices. This allows us to provide technically grounded advice across many industrial sectors where we know the assets and businesses technically, commercially, and strategically. We help C-suites and boards to navigate the climate and energy transition, to manage risks and prepare to thrive in a low-carbon economy. Our practice is also informed by my own non-executive director experience over many decades on about a dozen boards, including an ASX-listed company board, a state-owned enterprise board, private company boards and not-for-profit boards. If you would like to connect on LinkedIn but we haven't yet met in person, please specify why you'd like to connect, so I can understand how we can collaborate.

Sustainability, Climate Change And Risk Lead Australia
    Aurecon Jul 2024 - Present
    Docklands, Victoria, Au
I lead the Sustainability & Climate Change advisory practice (and P&L) in Australia, which spans several reinforcing focus areas so we can help clients take a systems approach. We help organisations (and communities) to assess the physical risk of climate change and to build resilience. We help them to formulate a climate transition strategy. We create business cases and detailed plans so organisations can decarbonise their own operations (even in hard to abate sectors) and pursue opportunities in energy transition. We help clients to act across their supply chains, working with suppliers and customers to improve sustainability and create a more circular economy and invest in more sustainable infrastructure. And, for the emissions that can't be removed from operations or supply chains, we have a carbon markets team, which understands the future financial exposure to carbon prices and can advise on participation in carbon markets. I also lead our Risk and Assurance Strategy advisory practice, which includes: strategic risk and assurance; enterprise risk and assurance; and capital asset program risk and assurance.Aurecon has vast expertise in bringing sustainability to infrastructure projects. All types of projects, in all types of sectors, including energy, resources, water, industrial, defence, transport, built environment, … We do that through great design, expert engineering, AND trusted advisory consultants. That “AND” is why I joined Aurecon: our technical expertise informs our strategic advice, and vice versa: we know that what we conceive and advise can actually be delivered.
