A tech-savvy storyteller with a focus on entrepreneurship, interdisciplinary innovation, and social disruption. As a PhD candidate in Sociology and NSF IGERT Fellow, my interdisciplinary dissertation research was mainly centered around the intersection between climate change, economic and social behavior, and small group/network interactions. Additional areas of graduate study include economics, religion, and China policy. Domain expertise and relevant work experiences allowed me to found multiple startups including an NSF-funded social network for scientists (with advisers from NASA, NOAA, and the IPCC), an NSF-funded EdTech startup for coordinating spontaneous activity, and a FinTech app that combined stock market data with Twitter sentiment analysis and Azure ML to model financial markets. Interdisciplinary knowledge and personal networks also facilitated multiple business dealings in China, which included negotiating with local government officials in Shanghai, partnering with hospital administrators in Guangdong Province, and advising private equity investors in Beijing. I currently manage both business and tech development at a small MedTech startup whose ultimate goal is to provide medicine on demand ("Uber for Healthcare"). In addition to being responsible for finding new clinics and clients to work with and collecting UI/UX feedback from stakeholders to inform Agile development, I am also responsible for recruitment and securing nondilutive funding.
