I took a planned sabbatical from my role with ExperiencePoint in order to pursue personal goals and projects. Some of the fun things I got up to during this time included a bit of travel (Indonesia 🇮🇩, Mexico 🇲🇽), pursuing a few side hustles with Amazon and Etsy, and a good portion of my time was focused on helping my wife—Dr. Danica Kyryllo—bootstrap her first chiropractic clinic in Pickering, Ontario as a small business owner. This included launching and managing the clinic website (www.topchiro.ca) and supporting digital marketing campaigns on Google and Meta, among other things to drive patient awareness and appointment sign-ups.At the end of my sabbatical, I decided to start a new role as the lead designer at Future Fertility, an exciting fertility-tech startup 🙂

Hired & promoted to lead the software (UX) & hardware (ID) design team for an integrated clinical product suite spanning solutions across neurosurgical imaging (MRI), planning, navigation, and advanced surgical microscopy. Collaborated with & designed for a wide range of clinician users, including neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, nurses, MRI techs, and clinical apps specialists.• Led the UX design for an innovative voice control UI for neurosurgeons to make commands — e.g. “OK, Vimo! The team is part of eHealth Innovation at the University Health Network in Toronto, where it is uniquely embedded in Toronto General Hospital with access to clinical users and patients to design and test for.• Project lead for the design of an online platform for the Movember Foundation to support the needs of men with prostate cancer; used a service design approach to spec out the project requirements and gather feedback via ethnographic discovery research, participatory design sessions, and multiple rounds of user testing with representative users• Served as a human factors engineering consultant to the province of Ontario in aid of the Canadian government’s operation to migrate 25,000+ Syrian refugees to Canada from the Middle East in 2015/16• UX designer for bant, an app designed to support seniors with multiple chronic conditions; the app was designed to track the patient’s blood sugar, blood pressure, weight, and symptoms associated with chronic kidney disease, congestive heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease• Project lead for a Medtronic UI design initiative tasked with re-imagining how patients and clinicians engage in routine pacemaker follow-up appointments; the project involved user shadowing and task analysis of complex workflows, numerous rounds of creative brainstorming and design iterations, and the creation of an interactive prototype• Project lead for the ISAAC mobile app that allows 27,000+ Ontario cancer patients to manage their symptoms and increase engagement with their care providers• Redesigned the clinical scheduling interface for the OSCAR McMaster EMR product suite, a popular web-based EMR product suite used by well over 1,000 clinics across Canada
