Justin Milano is the Founder and CEO of Abroad, where leaders and organizations transform themselves and the world. Justin’s leadership journey began with a transformative quest to Bhutan, which inspired the creation of Abroad and set the stage for a global speaking tour. During this tour, over 1,300 visionary leaders participated in Abroad’s 15-minute psychometric assessment, developed in collaboration with the former Director of Wellbeing at Yale. This data-driven initiative resulted in a comprehensive study on the impact of leaders’ mindsets and mental health on performance, decision-making, and team culture.Justin’s research excellence earned him recognition from the Edmund Hillary Fellowship in New Zealand, an organization dedicated to attracting social entrepreneurs to develop solutions for global challenges. Over the past five years, Justin has collaborated with the New Zealand government and local partners to enhance the leadership and resilience of the country’s next-generation leaders. This initiative’s significant, evidence-based impact has inspired venture capital funds and innovation ecosystems to adopt similar support programs for their leaders.Through years of working with founders and executives, Justin recognized that many behind-the-scenes challenges faced by leaders—and numerous global problems—could be addressed with a millennia of knowledge from global wisdom traditions. This insight led him back to Bhutan to design immersive executive education experiences, which have been described as “life-changing” by hundreds of executives from top global companies, investment funds, and family offices. Many of these executives are now partners and investors in Abroad.Committed to a regenerative business model, Justin and Abroad’s stakeholders are dedicated to supporting the guardians of traditional wisdom in Bhutan and beyond. Through its non-profit initiatives, Abroad is developing a traditional wisdom center in Gelephu, Bhutan, in collaboration with the female Rimpoche, Dorje Phagmo. This project aligns with the King’s vision for a Mindfulness City, aiming to inspire a sustainable and fulfilling human presence on Earth.Justin’s unique approach to blending entrepreneurship, executive coaching, and traditional wisdom has led to his role teaching Purpose-Driven Innovation at Booth Executive Education, University of Chicago. This role underscores the impact of Abroad’s work and Justin’s dedication to fostering innovative leadership rooted in human values.
