The Manager, Geographic Information Systems & Analytics is responsible for developing and implementing the strategies and services for an enterprise Geographic Information System at the Municipality. The incumbent establishes the plan to consolidate spatial information for the Municipality and expand access to the data to improve decision making. Primary responsibilities of this position include: Assists Director, Advisory Services with overall program service delivery. Manages through direct involvement in daily operations, budgeting, and strategic planning of the overall design and deployment of all department initiatives. Ensures all programs are developed according to legislation, industry standards, and best practices. Takes a lead role in developing and implementing innovative and practical approaches to improving contribution, access, and sharing of spatial information in the Municipality to improve staff decision making. Guides individuals toward goal achievement using negotiation, teamwork/collaboration, motivation and staff development skills. Communicates frequently with the Division to ensure inter-departmental alignment and collaboration to accomplish objectives. Models the best in change leadership behaviours to support the Municipality’s initiatives. Supports the development of effective communications with executive and department leadership. Establishes and monitors timeframes and timelines. Uses a variety of resources (both internal and external) to develop opinions and make informed decisions. Translates plans into specific assignments for branch team. Formulates strategies that are achievable, cost-effective, and address organizational goals by themselves or in coordination with other strategies. Helps employees develop a clear understanding of what they will need to do differently as a result of changes in the organization. Encourages others to adopt new procedures.

I manage Geographic Information Systems, IT Governance, IT Strategic Direction, & IT Security.-Geographic Information Systems: The Enterprise GIS infrastructure for the Municipality including the development of GIS usage, spatial information steward-custodian management, and analytics.- IT Governance: The framework involving IT and its appropriate usage, implementation, and maintenance.- IT Strategic Direction: The short to medium direction and longer term strategies for the Municipality.- IT Security: The security of IT systems, applications, infrastructure, practices, and processes.

• Supervise the development, implementation, and administration of procedures and policies.• Develop, refine and report on the Service Delivery performance measures. • Lead the organization in establishing organization wide GIS objectives. • Oversee the planning, coordinating, and managing of data used bythe RMWB’s Geographic Information Systems. • Implement quality control measures and oversee quality control on all developed and maintained GIS data. • Responsible for managing all procedures related to the identification, prioritization, and resolution of client requests at the data/mapping level, including the monitoring, tracking, and coordination of service. • Facilitate communication between the GIS Branch and its clients in order to define and maintain the Services required for each business unit across the organization.• Develop, manage and administer Service Delivery standards, including monitoring service deliver performance.

Working on multiple projects involving location analysis. Primarily employed for the Canadian Century Research Infrastructure project http://www.canada.uottawa.ca/ccri/. I am also working on web mapping development in the Cartography office, Department of Geography, involving Traumatic Brain Injuries in Ontario, Ontario Tobacco Research Unit, and JUBA. Finally, I am working on personal research and publication on the changing nature of bank locations, financial citizenship, and spatio equity.
