Justin's work at Mapos includes projects in hospitality, retail, adaptive reuse, workspace, residential, historic renovation, commercial development, visual merchandising, and branding. He has touched all phases of work from pre-design through construction administration, assembling everything from early concept imagery through to construction drawings. He has successfully built and managed longterm client, consultant, engineer, vendor, and contractor relationships. Justin has grown to play a significant role in the firm's office culture, drawing and software standards, employee orientation, mentoring, and pitch development.

Over the past few decades, the world has witnessed a rise in displacement and migration caused by conflicts, natural and human-made disasters, and the effects of climate change. A disproportionately large percentage of those affected are hosted by some of the poorest and most resource-scarce nations in the world. Of these, 40% live in temporarily planned humanitarian “camps” for increasingly protracted periods of time, while the remaining 60% enter urban areas where they receive little support and often face tensions with the host community and their local and national governments.Currently, solutions to these challenges do not adequately support either population, because they are generally isolated to humanitarian efforts that serve only the displaced community or development efforts that serve only the host community. The Humanitarian and Development Practice, positioned within the Planning, Finance, and Economy Section of UN-Habitat’s Urban Practices Branch, aims to bridge this gap between international humanitarian and development activities. Utilizing urban and spatial planning as the primary tools, the team’s mission is to develop sustainable long-term solutions with an integrated approach.
