I have been told many times that I am the perfect pilot for “building the plane while flying it”. My success and professional experience has been informed by my identity and experience as a Black male, first-generation college graduate, educator, youth and community advocate that yearns for equity, opportunity, and access. My life’s work has been about being a part of something larger than myself. At my core and aligned to my values, I believe in leading with vulnerability, empathy, and developing community and partnerships in a participative process that yields and sustains meaningful change.Outside of work, I can be found serving on boards of organizations that generate community empowerment, enjoying the great outdoors (gardening, fishing, and hiking), and spending time with those I love most!
