About Justin Richardson

Ik zie mijzelf als sociaal, maatschappelijk betrokken en heb een brede interesse. Hoewel ik veelzijdig ben opgeleid, ben ik goed in staat mij in een specifiek onderwerp te verdiepen. Onderzoeken hoe iets echt werkt of juist niet is mijn doel. Ik heb het gevoel dat we als mensen veel kennis hebben van hoe de wereld werkt maar dat we vaak die kennis niet benutten om een verschil te maken. Daar wil ik verandering in brengen! Het is iets waar ik me graag voor zou willen inzetten en ik denk dat ik hier met mijn kennis een waardevolle bijdrage aan kan leveren. In mijn vrije tijd houd ik me graag bezig met muziek. Ik luister veel muziek, bezoek vaak concerten/festivals en speel in band.

    My Phd research focusses on social relations (e.g. social capital, group identity) and how they influence health and wellbeing. I study these proceses in the context of a larger project "Gronings Perpectief", in which we study the social impact of the earthquakes in Groningen. This project also involves a lot of applied work and reporting our scientific results to policy makers. In October 2024 I succesfully defended my dissertation with the title: Social Relations and Health: Understanding their Interplay in an Adverse Context
