Since 2011 I have been working full-time with Smart Communications as their IT Director and Vice President of Technology, responsible for overseeing their overall technology stance including their distributed hosting infrastructure, cloud computing services, database administration, technical policies and procedures, and network infrastructure at over 150 remote client sites, four offices, and three data centers. I directly manage the Network Operations team, systems administrators, and coordinate with our software engineering team to support upcoming software deployments. I was the technical co-founder of the company and was responsible for the development of all of the company's software and IT systems for the first several years as we gained traction in the industry and grew our client base. I have worn all of the hats from sales, project management, planning and installing infrastructure, developing software, creating policies, hiring and managing staff, and everything in between.Prior to 2011, my focus was on writing web applications of one sort or another. I have primarily used ColdFusion and MS SQL Server, though I have experience with a number of other web-based technologies including PHP, ASP .Net (C#), as well as building native Windows applications in JavaScript using Electron. In conjunction with web programming, I have also been involved with network and systems administration in Full Stack DevOps roles before the terms existed.In 1999, I founded a managed DNS service provider for individuals and businesses that needed reliable, affordable DNS service. In 2011, I sold the business after running the business for 12 years.From 2005 to 2011 I was the systems and network administrator as well as a ColdFusion web developer for GravityFree. While there I worked on their e-commerce platform for the floral industry as well as web applications for many high-profile clients in the region. GravityFree continued to retain some of my time for administration of their data center for several years after my departure.Outside of my technology work, I hold a private pilot certificate and enjoy being a life-long learner on a variety of technology and non-technology topics. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management. I have been known to occasionally play competitive dodgeball with a league in Portland, and love spending time with my family.I am a leader who values honesty and integrity. I believe in fostering an environment where open communication and trust are paramount, allowing for genuine collaboration and growth among team members.
